The days that upbringing makes character
Eyes teach habit to the sight
And swollen eyelids
Because of homework
Make sleepier the sight onus
And how banal tools are glasses
That will not find excuse
In any look’s hook

Smash Bottles – 2016 http://foroozanshirghani.com/smash-bottles/ Sun, 06 Nov 2016 07:31:22 +0000 http://foroozanshirghani.com/?p=198

Life happens through the simplest surrounding objects and events of our routine life.
Objects which never insist on the legitimacy of their own presence, and form our sober, real image of ourselves without any imposition. compressed plastic bottles is the precise image of mankind and his perplexities to me , Mankind- gradually deformed, compressed and buried under the heaviness of the life he had imposed to himself when released from the pressure, opens his way out of the piled layers, breathes in and fills himself up constantly.
As though life had been the repetition and fluctuations of this compressing and filling from eternity, and one will be smothered under its weight if he doesn’t give himself a chance to breath.
Now, watching the bottles I see myself abandoned my home, sometimes compressed and weary under the pressure of its newfound layers, and sometimes breathing in throughout the mass inside me in an unknown solitude, and feel lightened up from any weight.

Alienation – 2016 http://foroozanshirghani.com/smashed-bottles/ Sun, 06 Nov 2016 07:00:02 +0000 http://foroozanshirghani.com/?p=139

This collection is about alienation – expressing constantly changing, fragmented lives.  The figurations in this collection are an allegory to social pressures and psychological traumas, caused either by the endless drudgery of work or by the socio-political ruling systems. Alienation is usually an inevitable consequence of these bureaucracies and leads to distortion and deformation of human personality and life.

I address this situation by compressing and homogenizing my subjects and by placing them in an apocalyptic world where place, time, and even the very appearance of humanity undergo drastic changes. People gradually become alienated from others as well as from themselves and this leads to even more isolation and loneliness. I explore the irreversible psychological damage of force caused by twisting my subjects with fear, isolation, anger, despair, and eventually obedience. Consequently, in some of my works the figures take refuge in buildings that have no comfort and vast emptiness,  only a decaying surveillance site. Here time has lost its credibility and value and the only source of hope is scant rays of light among the shadows.

The initial idea of this collection was formed shortly after I immigrated to the States in 2015. I felt a sort of amputation from my homeland and a kinship with the crushed plastic water bottles that I used to line up on my desk every day. The bottles were pressed and deformed easily just like a person under pressure and that was the beginning of an ongoing experiment with various mediums to discover the potential of this symbolic form of the critical and fragile human condition.

Gazeness _ 2013 http://foroozanshirghani.com/gazeness-2/ Wed, 06 Nov 2013 09:11:09 +0000 http://foroozanshirghani.com/?p=189

my interest to draw spectacled people was started when I went to an optician’s for changing my glasses .I understood that how much effective the glasses are on our perception apart from their form attraction ,and I remembered one of my childhood memories. Wearing glasses is one of the mysterious curiosities of people in childhood and I wasn’t exception .I can remember that I pretended to low vision in school’s per capita optometry. Glasses were a personable sign for me .Gradually this childlike personable feeling was exchanged with man’s though , and recognized that man can see as much as they know.(Our perceive border is our vision border)
Now it’s me and routine wearing on and out glasses . Sometimes my eyes blink restless and sometimes gaze at an eccentric lethargy and then stare . As if this insanity habit has been afflicted with a contagious illness: frequent eyesight

In search of lost space _ 2008 http://foroozanshirghani.com/drawing-1/ Thu, 06 Nov 2008 08:31:57 +0000 http://foroozanshirghani.com/?p=187

When the mind is floated, I feel weightless and can observe myself from a distance. My body moves in whimsical fluidity and the more weightless I become, the lighter my surroundings appear. It’s as if I’m floating in space, experiencing abstraction in infinity. This dream-like state is hard to reproduce and seems to conflict with reality. I feel I am missing something that I don’t know if it’s a part of space, a part of existence, or both. To figure out this missing piece, I must immerse myself in this unknown state and allow the lost elements to reveal themselves.

In search of lost space – 2008 http://foroozanshirghani.com/test/ Thu, 06 Nov 2008 05:39:46 +0000 http://foroozanshirghani.com/?p=76

When the mind floats away,I automatically become weightless . I watch myself mildly. My body which moves in the whimsical fluidity ,I love more than ever. The more weightless I become ,the more lighter my environed color. A strange dignity surrounds me. Gradually, I do not hear any voice, and I calmly get pregnant from my internal sound . I’m like flipping form in freezing space.Like a figure who experiencing abstraction in infinity. like a bulk which emptying from inside.Yes ,It looks like a dream and how a big conflict to reproduce a dream that is forgotten every day.
this collection depicts a set of figures that gradually disappears from its surroundings, where, in addition to all the surrounding objects, some parts of the figures itself are removed and resolved in a large volume of space, it seems that it was not present at all or there is a presence which its life continuation depends on the silence surrounding . Fluid lines and mild gray layers that reveal themselves in a vast range of white layers. It is difficult to recognize the form and the figure. It is possible to consider the form as a space, or vice versa. There is something missing here. It probably is part of space or man or perhaps both, and to find this lost, there is no choice but to stand and resolve among painting layers.
